Literario
Escribo con claridad, paso y moderación — precisión antes que adorno, y profundidad antes que floritura. Mi prosa es resonancia, no decorativa. Cada frase se forma como parte del todo, cuidando la cadencia, el tono y la arquitectura. Sea construir una obra original, o traducir de otras, pretendo un estilo lúcido, digno y una narrativa coherente.
My Approach
Literary
I write with clarity, rhythm, and restraint — favoring precision over ornament, and depth over flourish. My prose seeks resonance, not decoration. Each sentence is shaped to serve the whole, with attention to cadence, tone, and emotional architecture. Whether crafting original work or adapting existing texts, I pursue a style that is lucid, dignified, and narratively coherent.
Translational
For me, translation is a form of authorship. I inhabit the original text fully — its voice, its silences, its intent — and reconstruct it with fidelity and elegance in the target language. I reject mechanical equivalence in favor of conceptual precision, cultural nuance, and stylistic integrity. Every translation is a negotiation between loyalty and clarity, and I approach it with literary discipline and editorial rigor. I do not translate words, my mind understands the meaning of the author without passing trough the filter of a dictionary.

Para mí, la traducción es una forma de autoría. Me sumerjo totalmente en el original — su voz, sus silencios, su intención — y lo reconstruyo con fidelidad y elegancia en otro idioma. Detesto la equivalencia mecánica en favor de la precisión conceptual con disciplina literaria, matices culturales e integridad estilística. Cada traducción es una negociación entre lealtad y claridad, y lo enfoco con respeto literario y rigor editorial. No traduzco palabras, mi mente entiende el significado del autor sin tener que pasar por el filtro del diccionario.

NERDECTION REVIEW
NOSTALGY is a quiet, introspective literary novel about emptiness, memory, and the dangerous pull of the past. It follows Alejandro, a successful Spanish executive living in Los Angeles whose life looks polished from the outside but feels hollow from within. Burned out by work, detached from love, and increasingly trapped inside his own thoughts, he returns to Spain hoping that old places, old friendships, and old versions of himself might give him back whatever he has lost.
Summary
Alejandro has status, money, discipline, and the kind of life many people would envy, yet he feels deeply unfulfilled. His success in Los Angeles has not brought him peace, only a sharper awareness of his own emotional isolation. When he takes leave from work and returns to Spain, he begins revisiting old streets, old memories, and people tied to his past, especially Félix and others connected to his younger years. He also carries with him unresolved emotional ties, particularly with Denise, whose presence highlights the gap between the connection he wants and the vulnerability he struggles to accept.
As the novel unfolds, Alejandro’s return home does not offer the comfort he imagined. Instead, it exposes how much time has changed everyone, including himself. The people and places he once idealized can no longer fully hold the meaning he assigned to them. Through this, NOSTALGY becomes less a story about external events and more a character study of a man confronting the fact that he has mistaken emotional distance for strength, and memory for truth. By the end, the novel lands on a bittersweet but clear emotional conclusion: the past cannot save him, and life can only move forward.

Miguel Wandenbergh has translated Nobel Laureate Kenzaburo Oe’s most relevant novels, directly from the Japanese, earning him worldwide recognition for his Spanish translation “El grito silencioso”, finalist to the Noma Prize to the Best translation of Japanese literature to other language in 1996, followed by two more titles, all with excellent critiques to his work. Sobre “El grito silencioso” del Nobel – JapónTambién ha traducido del neerlandés a Paul Biegel, y este año espera publicar las dos novelas principales de Natsume Soseki, こころ y 没ちゃん que por primera vez será con los títulos correctos en español: “Sinceridad”© y “El señorito”© y se publicarán en plataformas digitales en todo el mundo.
About the Author
Miguel Wandenbergh is also translator of Japanese Nobel laureate Kenzaburo Oe, finalist to the 1996 Noma Prize for "El grito silencioso" from the Japanese, and two other novels by the same author. Has also translated Yukio Mishima's Sea of Fertility tetralogy, and is waiting for the time to publish his direct translations from the Japanese.
Born in Spain in 1956, he is retiring from his main profession after working for Philips Nederland, AT&T, The Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, Allied Signal, Yakult Nederland and AMES Sintering, and will dedicate himself to literature for the rest of his life.
Miguel has an outstanding command of Spanish, English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, and Japanese, and reads Korean and Chinese. He is also a motorcycle and car buff, still plays tennis at competition level, and is now living in Castellón, Spain.
